CATS OR DOGS?

Good Morning Everyone,

It is time for the start of a new challenge over at As You Like It and we are asking whether you prefer cats or dogs.

It's definitely dogs for me.  I've never owned a cat but have had dogs.  I just love how loving and loyal they are and how they come and cuddle up on the sofa at night.   It's heartbreaking when they go though.  We lost one of ours earlier this year and I still miss him a lot.

For my card I have used this old Bugaboo image called Party Pups.  I have coloureed them with copics and used a streamers die from The Greetery and sentiment die from Lawn Fawn. The streamers, sentiment and the orange striped paper were all from snippets to match the colours on the pups.

I hope you can join us and all the fab inspiration from the rest of the DT can be seen here.

I would like to enter:

PIP challenge #2429 - Anything Goes
Allsorts - Anything Goes
Crafts Galore - Anything Goes
Snippets Playground - Snippets used were the streamers, sentiment and organe striped paper.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and have a good weekend when it gets here.  We're going to a barbeque on Sunday so hoping it doesn't rain.

See you soon,

FAVOURITE NON CARD PROJECT

Morning Everyone,

It is time for a new challenge at As You Like It  and this time we would like to see your favourite non-card projects.

I have made some fun Christmas  pom pom tags for the younger members of the family.  I always seem to run out of tags and end up making some in a hurry, so I thought I would get ahead of the game this year.  I got the pom pom idea from Pinterest and after searching through my scraps of Christmas papers I found some with suitably small patterns.

They are made by die cutting an oval in white card then cutting it down the middle and fastening the two halves together at the top with a small strip.  Patterned paper was cut with the same oval and glued on.    Turn up cuffs were made by stamping the same sentiment, either in red or by heat embossing in white, and cutting them into small rectangles and adding to the bottom of the hat.  I made small pom poms in colours to match each tag and glued them on together with twine.  The insides of the tags have been left blank for my own message.

MONSTER PARTY

 Morning Everyone,

When I was searching through my digi images for something last week I came across this Bugaboo image and thought it would be a fun image to colour.

I had a look through my mountains of papers and found some brightly coloured pieces and so coloured my monsters with copics to match.  They were cut out with a notched square die and matted with black and then I had this mad idea to get my sewing machine out and use that around the edges.  Normally when I want stitches I sew by hand, but I fancied having a go at zig zag stitch across the joins of the papers.  I hadn't even used my machine for zig zag before so had to have a practice on some scrap.  They worked really well so I was quite pleased for a first attempt.  My straight stitching went a bit wonky though, especially when I reached the corners, but they don't look too bad.

I finished it off with a few enamel dots, a stitched banner die for the sentiment and a Sending die from SSStamp.

Typing this on Sunday night after watching Emma Raducanu get beat in the tennis, which was a bit disappointing as she had played so well up to now.

I would like to enter:

Thank you for visiting and I will be back later in the week.

FAVOURITE TWO COLOUR COMBO

Morning Everyone,

It's time for the start of a new challenge over at As You like It and we are asking you to shar your projects with your favourite two colour combination.

I like grey with most colours, but this bright pink really stands out so well with it.  I have heat embossed the Altenew Statement flowers in silver and coloured them with my Zig markers.  After fussy cutting them out I placed them onto the white base which has been trimmed with an old Spellbinders edging die.  The sentiment is from a Clearly Besotted set and has also been heat embossed in silver.

CHRISTMAS GNOME

Morning Everyone,

I discovered a sketch challenge recently which I hadn't seen before so thought I would have a play.

This is my card:

and this is the sketch:

I have re-used my gnome image from a previous card which I wasn't happy with and have discarded apart from the image.  He is coloured with copics and I have used papers from an old LOTV pad called Festive Trimmings.

I would like to enter:

EMBOSSING FOLDER

 Morning Everyone,

This is a first for me at this technique.  I have used a Simon Says Stamp embossing folder called Blossom Field and coloured it with copics.

The inks seemed to soak in quite a lot and whether it's because the paper has been stretched a lot I'm not sure, but I don't think I will be trying it again in a hurry, not with copics anyway.  I have used a happy die, which I think is from WPlus9.  I've had it a long time and don't keep all my dies in their packets so can't quite remember.  The 'birthday' was heat embossed in white.

I would like to enter:

PIP challenge #2424 - Anything Goes
Classic Design - Anything Goes
Beautiful Blossoms - Anything Floral Goes

A short and sweet post. Thank you for your visit and have a good rest of the week.  The weather certainly seems to be getting a bit better here.

WITH OR WITHOUT WORDS

 Morning Everyone,

It's the start of a new challenge over at As You Like it and we are asking if you prefer your projects to be with or without words/sentiment.

I always have some sort of words on my cards even if it's just a "hello". I like to know what the card is for when I'm making it otherwise it would feel unfinished.

I have used an image kindly provided by our sponsor:

I printed the image twice, firstly onto a piece of blue designer paper with the sentiment and then onto copic friendly paper.  The image was coloured with copics and then I cut out the balloon and the basket and stuck them onto the blue paper.  The cloud outlines are from Lawn Fawn.

I would like to enter:

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you can join us in the challenge.

STATEMENT FLOWERS

 Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all well.  I've had a nice afternoon of crafting and managed to get this card finished.

It's an Altenew stamp called Statement Flowers.  I stamped with a grey Memento ink for a change and coloured with copics.  I wasn't quite sure how the card was going to end up so I fussy cut the image to make it easier to experiment with layout etc.  I ended up by placing it on top of a Tuck In Scribble die from Tattered Lace, cut in grey and just added a sentiment heat embossed in white and a few dew drops.

I would like to enter:

Allsorts - Flowers Galore

MORE SNEAKERS

Hello Everyone,

Now that my daughter's wedding is over I can get back to some crafting again.  We had a wonderful day and even though it was a bit chilly on Saturday we didn't let it ruin the day.

Another card made using the Woodware Sneakers stamp.  I've used the same paper pad as my last card with the stamp, but a different layout.

This card was for my niece and I have paper pieced with the star paper and coloured the white bottom of the sneakers with grey copics.

FAVOURITE EMBOSSING METHOD

Morning Everyone,

First of all I'm sorry if I haven't visited your blogs lately.  Our daughter is getting married on Saturday and things have been a bit hectic with preparations and we have visitors arriving today so lots to do.

We have a new challenge over at As You Like It and we're asking for your favourite embossing method.  Mine is definitely heat embossing, especially on Christmas cards. I love all the shine.

Not had much time for crafting but this card was in my partly made pile so I finished it off for the challenge.  I've heat embossed the background stamp from Pinkfresh Studio and coloured the berries in with copics.  I've also added glossy accents to the berries but this doesn't show in the photo.  The sentiment is an old one from Clearly Besotted, also heat embossed in gold.

FAVOURITE SKETCH?

 Morning Everyone,

A bit late with my post today.  I've had to do this on my laptop this morning and it always takes me longer as I'm not used to using it.

Today is the start of a new challenge over at As You Like It and we're asking for your favourite sketch.

I don't very often look at sketches but this is the layout I use when I have a bout of brain fog and stuck for an idea.  It uses up some of my patterned paper of which I have way too much!

For this card I've used a LOTV floral wreath and coloured with copics.  The sentiment comes with the image and the papers are a digi download from ages ago from Nitwit collections (I think so anyway).

SOFT OR BOLD COLOURS?

 Morning Everyone,

It's time for the start of a new challenge over at As You Like It and we are asking whether you prefer soft or bold colours on your projects.

When I make floral cards I like them to be bold, especially when they're against a white background. The white enhances the colours and makes them stand out more.

I love pansies and all their different colours. I've cut my dies with white card and coloured with a mixture of Altenew inks and Distress Oxides.  The leaves were cut from green cardstock and shaded with copics.  The arch die is from Spellbinders and the sentiment is a small Creative Expressions one cut in gold mirri card.

We don't have a sponsor for this fortnight so just playing for fun.

NON-TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS COLOURS

 Morning Everyone,

This is my reminder post for Christmas Craft Creations where the theme is "Non-Traditional Christmas Colours".

I've gone with a die set from Honey Bee Stamps called Winter Village and have cut the buildings in unusual colours for a Christmas card and used some teal snowy paper for the background which is from  a Whimsy Stamps pad. I must say these dies were really fiddly to use and I had to make it in stages as it was taking so long, but it was good for using up small scraps.

Hammered card was torn across for the snow and I heat embossed the sentiment in silver.

I hope you can join us, there are two prizes on offer and the challenge doesn't close until 7th May so still plenty of time to enter.

I would like to enter:

Snippets playground - All the buildings, trees and lamp post were snippets.

CLEAN OR FUSSY?

Morning Everyone,

It's time for the start of a new challenge over at As You Like It and the theme is "Clean or Fussy?".

A lot of my cards seem to be a lot cleaner and flatter than they used to be and that's mainly because of the cost of posting.    I still like to add a few pearls etc though and, because this one wasn't being posted, I added a bobtail to the little rabbit.

I have used a Tracey Hey stamp which is quite large (this is a 7"x7"card) and coloured it with copics.  The sentiment also comes with the set and little hearts and clear drops finish it off.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

You can pop over to the challenge here to see the inspiration from the rest of the team.

CUTE OR FLORAL?

Morning Everyone,

A new challenge starts over at As You like It this morning and we are asking whether you prefer to make cute or floral projects and why.

I have made more floral recently. I give quite a few cards to an aunt to give to her friends so floral are much more suitable than cute cards, but I still make cute ones for children.

This card is made with a layering set from Honey Bee stamps called Vintage roses.  I cut all the flowers from snippets of white card and inked them up with a set of Altenew mini cubes in shades of yellow. The background was cut from green card and shaded a bit with green ink.  The middles were cut from dark brown card so I inked the sentiment in brown to match.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

with a voucher for the lucky winner

I would like to enter:

Simon Says Stamp (Weds) - Happy Birthday

GUEST DESIGNER

 Hello Everyone,

My second post of the day sharing a card that I have made as Guest Designer on Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge.

I was kindly provided with an image from The Paper Shelter who is one of the two sponsors for the challenge.  I decided on a pink and silver combination for the card and coloured the image with copics. The pink ribbon is upcycled from a birthday card and the floral paper is from Wild Rose Studio.

The theme of the challenge is Anything Goes and as well as the Paper Shelter, Polkadoodles are also sponsoring for this fortnight.

DESIGNER PAPER

 Morning Everyone,

This is my reminder post for Christmas Craft Creations where the theme is 'Designer Paper'.

I thought this was an ideal time to use some of my Stampin Up specialty paper which is see through and the flowers have a felty feel to them.  I layered it onto some green card and then a silver mirri stitched surround.  A die cut Spellbinders poinsettia in white has been glued together and sparkle added to it by way of white glitter.  I also used silver mirri for the leaves, heat embossed a sentiment and cut that out with a stitched banner.  Silver ribbon finished it off.

There are two prizes on offer and the closing date is Tuesday, 9th April so still plenty of time to enter.

I would like to enter:

ABC Christmas - F for faux stitching
Christmas Kickstart - Get Your Grinch on (use green)
Rudolph Days - Anything Christmas

Thank you for taking the time to read and I will be back soon.

FAVOURITE FUN FOLD

Morning Everyone,

A new challenge starts at As You Like it this morning and we are asking to see your favourite fun folds.

I don't make many myself, but when I do it's usually this z-fold and it's one of the easier ones to make. For my card I've used paper from an old LOTV pad and a floral image which came with a magazine a few years ago.  I have coloured with copics and cut it out with a notched corner die.  This sentiment inside is from a Penny Black set.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

MONOCHROME OR COLOURFUL

Morning Everyone,

Not had a good week here. We lost one of our little dogs at the weekend and we're still getting used to him not being around.  It was all very quick with him being under the weather late Thursday night to going in his sleep on Saturday night.  The vet seemed to think it could have been sepsis. He was such a little character and we miss him dearly.

On a more happy note we have a new challenge over at As You Like It and we are asking whether you prefer to work with monochrome or colour.

I prefer to work with colour as it's a lot more cheery but saying that doesn't mean I don't do monochrome at all because I do.  For my card I have used my MFT happy birthday block with rainbow paper, which I love, but alas I think that's my last sheet.  I've coloured and fussy cut two birthday chicks, also from MFT, and added them with three sparkly dots and a die cut balloon.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

EMBOSSING FOLDER/STENCIL

Morning Everyone,

This is my reminder post for Christmas Craft Creations where the theme this month is to use on your Christmas project either an embossing folder or stencil or even other.

For my card I have used a Spellbinders embossing folder called Forever Green on the bottom half of the card, although it's not very easy to see in the photo.  I have used Spellbinders dies for the floral arrangement, which were all cut from snippets, a sentiment stamped in red which I think was from a free magazine set and dotted ribbon to finish off with.

There are two prizes on offer and the entry deadline is Tuesday, 12th March at 6pm so still plenty of time to enter.

I would like to enter:

Feb Rudolph Days - Anything Christmas
Snippets playground - Snippets used were all the floral arrangement and white layer.
Paper Funday challenge - No patterned paper
Classic Design challenge - Anything goes

Thank you for visiting and have a good day.

MASCULINE OR FEMININE?

 Morning Everyone,

There's a new challenge starting over at As You Like it and we are asking whether you prefer to make masculine or feminine cards.

It's definitely feminine for me. I think it's a lot easier to add embellishments such as flowers, pearls etc to female cards although saying that, I've only added a die cut flower and one sparkly gem to this one.

I have used a Stamping Bella image called Isabelle loves Ice Cream and coloured her with copics.  Papers are from an old LOTV paper pad called Romance and Roses and the ric rac die is from mft.

I would like to add this to:

PIP Challenge #2407 - Anything Goes

CRACKLING ROSE

 Hello Everyone,

I hope you've had a good weekend.  I thought it was about time I did some colouring so had a look through my basket of unused stamps and decided to have a go at this Chocolate Baroque stamp called Crackling Rose.

I've coloured with copics and distressed the edges of the image very lightly.  I found a piece of green paper which matched quite well, added some hessian and a couple of sentiment stamps.

I hope you like it. I would like to enter:

STAMPS OR DIGIS?

 Good Morning Everyone,

It is time for a new challenge over at As You like It and we are asking whether you prefer to work with stamps or digis.  I do love both, but digis win this time just for the fact that you can resize them and, when you're short of time for colouring, pre-coloured digis are ideal as with this card.

This is an image from Etsy here called Vintage Mouse in Teacup and I have used a Craft Consortium die to cut him out and papers and flowers from my stash.  I decided to round the corners for a change.

PEARLS OR GEMS

Morning Everyone,

Back again for the start of a new challenge over at As You Like It where we are asking whether you prefer to use pearls or gems on your projects.

I definitely prefer pearls, especially with this type of card.  They come in a multitude of colours and always look so elegant.

For my card I've used two wreath dies, both from Memory Box and added them to an odd 6" x 6" sheet of paper found in my drawer.  I haven't used any flowers for a long time so decided to go with this type of card, distressed the edges with my Tim Holtz tool and hand stitched all around.  I've put a plain piece of paper in the centre and heat embossed the sentiment.

Pale green pearls, twine and two little dragonflies have been added too.

GLITTER & SPARKLE

 Good Morning Everyone,

This is my reminder post for Christmas Craft Creations where the theme this month is 'Glitter & Sparkle'.

I have used a tree die from Waffle Flower which I managed to buy second hand and have used snippets of glitter card cut into smaller strips and added to the back of the die.  A piece of gold glitter card for the star and sparkly gems finish the card off.  I couldn't decide where to put a sentiment so in the end left it without one.

A very quick and simple card to make.  My mojo seems to have gone awol just lately and I can't seem to get going so have just been making DT cards at the moment.

Still plenty of time to enter as the challenge is open until Tuesday, 13th Feb.

FAVOURITE PAPER BRAND

 Morning Everyone,

Today is the start of our first challenge for 2024 over at As You Like It and we are asking you to lshare a project featuring your favourite paper brand and you must say why it's your favourite.

I do like many brands, but for this card I have used My Favorite Things paper.  I like their small prints and this was ideal for the sneakers from my new Woodware stamp.  I have paper pieced the sneakers with a star pattern, although it looks like dots on the photo, coloured the laces with white copic paint and shaded the white bottoms with copics.  All the papers are from the same pad and I've changed them about a bit so the candles are on top at the bottom of the card and the balloons on top at the top (if you get what I mean).

SNIPPETS CARD

 Hello Everyone,

I'm running in with a last minute snippets card for the Snippets Playground where the theme is for  'Anything BUT Christmas' so I decided to make a birthday card with my NBUS Spellbinder dies called Club Blooms.

All the flowers, leaves and white part of the card are from snippets.  I do love using dies to try and use up some of my many snippets, but the trouble is the pile never seems to go down much! This is my little pile of snippets, some before cutting some after.
