FAVOURITE DIE AT AYLI

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you are well and making headway into your Christmas preparations.

It is time for the last challenge of the year for the team at As You Like It and for this fortnight we would like you to showcase a project using your favourite die.

I must admit I do have a few favourites, but for Christmas cards this MFT tree die is ideal as it makes quick and easy cards without having to spend ages colouring an image.  I have added silver mirri card for the mat,  a heat embossed sentiment from a Penny Black set, added strips of glitter under the die and a few green sparklies to finish.

I know you must all be busy but I hope you get some time to enter the challenge and have the chance to win a prize from the fabulous sponsors, Lili of the Valley.

I would like to enter:

Christmas Kickstart - Last Minute Madness
Cupcake Inspirations - Holidays
Cute Card Thursday - Anything Goes
Dream Valley - Christmas
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Anything Goes
C.R.A.F.T. - Christmas: The last stretch

I would like to thank you for visiting during the past year and for all the lovely comments that have been left and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

CHRISTMAS CUTIES

Good Morning All,

Today is the start of a new challenge at Christmas with the Cuties and the theme is "Christmas Cuties" so a very easy one.

I've been very short of crafting time just lately with Christmas preparations so have made a really quick and tiny DT card.  It measures just 4.5 inches and has a pre-coloured image from LOTV when they used to sell them on A4 sheets in different sizes.  I've used one piece of patterned paper in grey, blue and white from The Works and added pale blue mats to the image and the main layer.  Two snowflakes, glittery ribbon and glitter for the snow were added for the added sparkle.

I would like to enter:

Pixie's Snippets Playground - Pale blue mats and snowflakes were snippets used
Rudolph Days Extra Challenge
Aud Sentiments - Christmas/Winter + a sentiment
Di's Digi Design - Winter/Holidays
Cute Card Thursday - Anything Goes
Crafting by Designs December - Anything Goes

Thank you for visiting and I will be back on Thursday.

CASE A DT MEMBER

Good Morning Everyone,

We have a new challenge at As You Like It today and we are asking you to CASE something from a DT card.

For my card I've CASE'd one I've made before, but this time in a more non traditional colour.  I've also heat embossed the wording with a MFT background stamp and this is what I am asking to be CASE'd from my card (heat embossing).  This way it doesn't have to be a Christmas card, it can be for any occasion.

The cute stamp is from Stamping Bella and I have coloured him with copics and added glitter to the snow and glossy accents to the baubles.

If you would like to pop over to the challenge here you will be able to see what the rest of the DT are asking to be used from their lovely cards.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

I would like to enter:

WINTER WONDERLAND AT SPARKLES

Morning Everyone,

It is time for a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas and for this month the theme is "Winter Wonderland".

For my DT card I have used a freebie image from an old magazine, together with the background paper, and framed with a Clearly Besotted frame die which has been added with foam tape.  I made the floral display from a Spellbinders poinsettia, Tim Holtz foliage and added berries and fir cones.  I glued these onto a small piece of card first which made it easier to arrange them before adding to the card front.

I think this one will be going to my Mum in law and I'll probably add a sentiment on before it goes, but not decided which one yet.

I hope you will be able to join in this last challenge of the year.  Thank you for taking the time to visit and have a good week.

I would like to enter:

Southern Girls Challenge - Anything Goes
Crafty Catz - Anything Goes

SHOW US YOUR SANTA HATS

Good Morning Everyone,

A little late with my post for the new challenge at Christmas with the Cuties.  This month we would like you to show us your Santa hats, but it must be cute too.

For my DT card I've used these cute Gerda Steiner kittens from the Carol Kitten clear stamp set, I just love their expressions.  For the background I used 3 Distress Oxides  and a Lawn Fawn Forest border die.  I've coloured the kittens with copics and fussy cut them out.   Glitter has been added to their hats, a memory box star and a Lawn Fawn sentiment embossed in silver finish it off.

We are sponsored by

with a prize for the lucky winner.

I would like to enter these challenges:

FAVOURITE WAY TO ADD SNOW

Good Morning Everyone,

Its time for a new challenge at As You Like It and this time we would like you to tell us your favourite way of adding snow to your projects.

For my DT card I have used Snowbird by Stampendous on Desert Storm cardstock.   I stamped him in Memento Rich Cocoa ink and coloured with copics.  For my snow one of my favourite ways is to used a stencil with texture paste as I have done here and added a touch of glitter to the paste while still wet.  I like the randomness of the stencil.  It really depends on where the snow is for me as on the branch and berries I have used glossy accents and glitter.  I think the glossy accents gives it a bit more depth than normal glue.

I've distressed the edges of my paper and added ribbon and tags from Mama Elephant. The small plain red bow was used as when I tried to make a bow from the spotted ribbon, I thought it looked too bulky and big for the card.

The sponsor for this challenge is

with a £10 voucher for the lucky winner

I would like to enter these challenges:

Penny Black & More - Christmas
Southern Girls Challenge - Anything Goes
Crafty Friends - Christmas
Country View Challenge - Hand Stamped

Thank you for visiting and I hope you have a lovely weekend.

XMAS POINSETTIA

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you are all keeping well. A quick post from me with another traditional type Christmas card.

This is a lovely stamp from Stampendous called Curio Poinsettia.  I can't remember where I first saw it, but when I found it on Ebay I "had to have it".  I didn't realise at the time though that it was a wooden stamp, which I'm not really keen on as you have to get the first stamping just right, no help from Misti.

I've coloured with copics and added gold pearlescent card for the mats and a sparkly red and gold ribbon to finish.

I would like to enter these challenges:

Penny Black & More - Christmas
Stamping Sensations - Traditional Christmas Colours
Cute Card Thursday - Anything Goes
Tuesday Throwdown - Fall/Holiday
CCC Digi Creations - Christmas

Thank you for visiting and I hope you have a good week.

CUTE OR TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS?

Good Morning Everyone,

It is time for a new challenge at As You Like It and for this one we would like you to tell us whether your prefer to make cute or traditional Christmas cards (and don't forget to say why please).

I do love making cute cards, but when I think about it, they are not that suitable for a lot of my older relatives and friends and, as I have an abundance of cute, I opted for the more traditional type this time.

I have used my Memory Box pine trees die and used snippets of glitter for the top one and green snippets from a Christmas paper pad for the bottom.  The outlines are in silver mirri and the sentiment which is from a Woodware set has been silver embossed. Clear sparkly gems were also added.  Quite fiddly to fit all the little pieces in, but I like the final effect.

We hope you will be able to join us in the Christmas challenge and look forward to seeing your makes.

I would like to enter these challenges:

SANTA AT SPARKLES CHRISTMAS

Good Morning Everyone,

It's the start of a new month which means a new challenge over at Sparkles Christmas and this month the theme is Santa.

For my DT card I've used a Santa from the MFT set Jingle All the Way.  I've used a background stamp purchased on Facebook, which has been heat embossed with clear embossing powder and I've had a little play by colouring in some of the little objects.  This was a bit of an experiment using different types of pens to see which worked best.  I tried copics, glitter pens, coloured pencil and a metallic pen, but everything is so small it's too hard to tell the difference.

Santa was coloured with copics, fussy cut and attached to the card with added  glitter and a little pom pom on his hat. The sentiment, which comes with the set, was heat embossed in gold.

I think I will try this with white embossing next time.

If you have any Santa themed cards we would love to see them, it's certainly not long to go now before we have to start sending them out.

I would like to enter these challenges:

Fab n Funky - Christmas
Simon Says Stamp Weds - Anything Goes
Colour Crazy Craft wk 43 - Anything Goes
Crafty Creations - Anything Goes
Crafty Catz Challenge - Anything Goes

A very wet day here and I think it's going to continue over the weekend, but wherever  you are, I hope you have a good one.

AUTUMN LEAVES

Hello All,

This is my second post today. A just for fun card with a free image from Scrapper's Delights on Facebook.

I thought it was such a lovely image and it also comes with the option of added leaves or snowflakes. I've coloured her with copics and really enjoyed using some different colours to what I normally use. The hair was a bit of a challenge for me and this was my second attempt, but I was happy with it in the end.  I've used lovely papers from an old LOTV pad, Country Lady, some paper leaves and the sentiment comes with the image.

I would like to enter these challenges:

PERSONALISE IT

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you've had a good weekend.  It's time for a new challenge over at Christmas with the Cuties and the theme is "Personalise It" and it must be a cute Christmas project.

For my card I've used a Santa from Digistamp Boutique, coloured with copics, and used paper from an old LOTV pad.  I've used two snippets for the banners and for the red mats. Glitter, has been added and I also made  a little pom pom with fun flock.  The sentiment is computer generated.

I hope you can join us and the sponsor for the challenge is:

FAVOURITE PAPERS

Good Morning Everyone,

I can't believe it's two weeks since I last posted!  Time seems to be flying by too quickly.

It is time for a new challenge over at As You Like It and for this fortnight we would like to see projects using your favourite Designer papers (and don't forget to say why they are please).

I do have a few favourites, one being the old LOTV paper pads, and another being First Edition pads. I've made my DT card with the latter.  I think they are such good quality and you can mix and match many in the pad, plus they are not all double sided so you don't waste so much paper.

I've coloured my Flowery Gnome from Stamping Bella with copics.  I tried to do his beard the same as it is on the pack.  It didn't turn out as well, but not bad enough to start again! I've coloured his flowers to match the pretty papers from the Paper Flowers FE pad and cut him out with a Tattered Lace doily die.  I've distressed the edges of the papers and just added ribbon and the sentiment to finish it off as it is quite patterned already.

The sponsor for the challenge is Crafty Ribbons with a voucher for the lucky winner.

I would like to enter these challenges:

Ally's Angels - Anything Goes
Creative Moments - Anything Goes
Elliebelle's Crafty Wednesday - Stamp It
Southern Girls - Anything Goes

Thank you for visiting, it is much appreciated when you leave a comment.  Have a good rest of the week.

REAL OR FAUX STITCHING?

Good Morning Everyone,

It is time for a new challenge at As You Like It and for this fortnight we would like you to showcase a project containing your favourite of either Real or Faux stitching.

I do love hand stitching, more on my shabby chic types of card, but my real favourite is faux stitching from dies.  I think they finish a card off wonderfully and are a quick and easy way to get the stitched look.

I have used an Inkylicious stamp on my DT card which I stamped onto the card and then again on spotty paper so I could fussy cut and paper piece the main part of the shoe.  The red part has been coloured with a copic pen.  The sentiment comes with the stamp and I used Versafine ink for this as it is quite intricate.   All the dies used have stitched edges.  This card is for a friend who nearly always wears killer heels.  I think my days of wearing heels like that are long gone!

The sponsor of the challenge is

MAKE US LAUGH

Good Morning Everyone,

It's the start of a new month which means the start of a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas challenge.  The theme this month is "Make Us Laugh".  I must say I did ponder over this for quite a while, not sure of what to do, but eventually came up with this little doggie from Bugaboo.

I've made another small card and coloured him with copics and used a snippet of snowflake paper from my Christmas scraps box.  Gold card for the mat, die cut snowflakes, glitter on his hat, liquid pearls and gold sparklies were also added.  The sentiment comes with the image.

Not long to go now. I usually start my Christmas shopping middle to end of October as have quite a bit to do. It's not a job I enjoy really, but at least I'm not rushing it all at the end.

I hope you will be able to join in this month.  The challenge is just for fun, no sponsors.

I would like to enter:

Winter Wonderland - Use your favourite embellishments (sparkly gems and glitter)

UPCYCLED CARD

Hello Everyone,

A very wet day here today.  I was looking through last year's Christmas cards that I kept and decided to upcycle another one for this month's Rudolph Days challenge and this is what I made.

The topper was cut down from being a rectangle and I've made a small 4.75" square card with it by adding snippets of red and green paper cut with my stitched squares dies from Crealies.  The pom poms were already on and I've added a few small red pearls here and there. So a fairly quick card, once I'd decided what to do with it.

I would like to enter:

Rudolph Days September - Anything Christmas
Pixie's Snippets Playground - the red and green papers were the snippets

Thank you for visiting and have a good week.

WHAT'S YOUR STYLE?

Good Morning Everyone,

Today, over at the new challenge at As You Like It, we are asking "What is your favourite style for making cards?"  It could be CAS, Fussy and Fancy or in between.

My normal style is in between the two extremes.  I do love patterned papers and I struggle with having a lot of white space on my cards.  I always seem to want to add something!   I nearly always like to add some kind of embellishments, saying that, I haven't added much to my DT card as the paper is so patterned, apart from 2 die cut flowers.

I have used an image kindly provided by the lovely sponsor, Lee Holland Digis, and coloured it with copics in girlie colours.  The paper is from Polkadoodles and I've used a Go Kreate die for the base shape.

I hope you will be able to join us and you can see the inspiration from the rest of the DT if you pop over here.

I would like to enter:

Good Morning Everyone,

Time for a new challenge at Christmas with the Cuties and the theme is "Ribbons & Bows" so we would love you to join us with a cute Christmas project following this theme.

For my DT card I have used a LOTV image, coloured the little cuties with copics and cut them out with a Spellbinders die.  The paper is a freebie from a magazine and I've added fun flock to their little bobbles and glitter to the snow. The red spotty ribbon and bow finish it off.

The sponsor for the challenge is Crafty Ribbons with a voucher for the lucky winner.

If you'd like to pop over and the the inspiration from the DT you can do so here.

SANTA'S ELF

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you had a good weekend.

I've had this little chap half coloured on my desk for a while and when I saw the latest MFT sketch challenge I though he would be ideal for it , so I had a play yesterday and finished him off.

This is the sketch I followed:

I coloured the image with copics and added snippets of red across the middle and a snippet of striped paper from an old LOTV Christmas pad. I embossed a small snowflake onto the larger bauble and stamped and fussy cut 2 small holly sprigs to  stick either side of the sentiment, which is embossed in white and is from a different MFT set.  The whole thing was stuck onto a red 5" x 7" card blank (much neglected, I must use them more!).

I would like to enter these challenges:

SANTA OR NO SANTA?

Good Morning Everyone,

It's time for a new challenge over at As You Like It and the theme is for you to showcase a project with your favourite of either Santa or No Santa on a Christmas card.

I tend to use a Santa image only when I have to, i.e. a DT card, or for a child's card so my favourite is "No Santa".  Most of the people I send cards to are probably too old for Santa cards anyway :) .

For my card I have used this sweet angel from LOTV and coloured her with copics. I have used some glitter on her wings and a sparkle pen on the stars. The sentiment is heat embossed and is also from LOTV.  The papers are from a First Edition Silent Night pad and the silver strip across the middle has been embossed with a linen embossing plate for extra interest, but that doesn't show up very well in the photo.  A doily cut in half and some sparkly gems finish it off.

I have used snippets on this, which are the two silver layers, the wonky square layer and the sentiment strip.

I would like to enter these challenges:

ABC Christmas - S for sparkle and T for texture
Allys Angels - Anything Goes
Pixie's Snippets Playground #360
Winter Wonderland - Use your fave embellishments (Glitter, Doilies are always useful when you're stuck and sparkly gems)
Simon Says Stamp Weds - Bling It On

I hope you can join in with this theme, not long till Christmas now so there should be lots of Christmas card making going on.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you will find time to leave a comment.

NAUGHTY CAT

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you've had a good weekend.  This is a just for fun card inspired by a few challenges.

I've been wanting to colour this little cat up for a while now and have only just got round to it.  He/she is from the Christmas Friends set from Penny Black.  I've coloured it with copics and cut it out with a stitched circle die and layered it onto a lacey circle die from Tattered Lace.  I've distressed the edges of the papers slightly, the top one of which was a freebie from a magazine, and also added silver glittery ribbon, a lacey edge and clear gemstones, although you can't see these very well on the patterned paper.

I decided not to add a sentiment as the paper has Merry Christmas all over it.

FAVOURITE WAY TO ADD TEXT

Good Morning Everyone,

It is time for a new challenge at As You Like It and the we would like you to tell us and showcase a project using your favourite way to add text on a project.

I use all types, i.e. stamping, digital, computer generated, but often like to heat emboss, especially on Christmas cards.   I prefer my sentiments to be in rubber for that reason.

I've used an old LOTV stamp for this card coloured with copics and I've heat embossed the sentiment in silver.  The larger stamp is from a Whimsy set and the other words are from LOTV as are the papers (now retired). I've also added ribbon and a little die cut flower.

The sponsor for the challenge is

I hope you can join us and you can see the rest of the DT inspiration here.

I mentioned in my last post that we were going to a Steampunk Festival on Monday and these are a few of the amazing costumes we saw.

I only took the first 2.  They're not brilliant as we were in shade, but the other 2 were from the local paper.  The festival is on for 3 or 4 days and the really serious people have different costumes for each day.  I really don't know how they managed in the sweltering heat and the 2 in the last photo were on a tricycle and I think they were the best.

I would like to enter these challenges:

Let's Build a Snowman

Good Morning Everyone,

It's time for a new challenge at Christmas with the Cuties and this time the theme is "Let's Build a Snowman" so we would love to see your cute snowmen/women.

I have used Candy Cane Snowman kindly provided by the sponsors:

I have coloured him with copics and used LOTV kraft Christmas paper and 2 Joanna Sheen edger dies to finish it off.  Ribbon, stickles for the snow, liquid pearls and a few red and white pearls are the embellishments.

I hope you will be able to join in and hop over to the Challenge here to see the inspiration from the rest of the team.

I would like to enter:

August Rudolph Days - Anything Christmas
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas - Anything Goes
Crimbo Crackers #191 - Anything Goes

I hope all those in the UK enjoy the rest of the Bank Holiday.  The weather is certainly glorious.  We will be going people watching at a Steampunk Festival held here every year, some of the costumes you see are amazing, and then out for lunch with friends at a tapas bar.

CHRISTMAS PUP

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you've had a good week.  When I saw the theme for the present Christmas Kickstart challenge was for Dogs, I thought I'd have a little play with this stamp which I haven't used before.

It's an old LOTV stamp and I've coloured him with copics in a similar colour to one of our little dogs, Charlie.  I've used snippets of paper, both the red and the holly paper and a border die which I bought from someone on Facebook.  The sentiment, which is from a MFT set, has been heat embossed in gold.

I had a change of mind with my layout and had to cut the card down a bit so the card is a small 5" x 4.5".  After I'd stuck the top border to the white card I decided it was too deep so it had to be re-cut along the top to make it smaller, which looks a lot better I think.  I then attached it to a snippet of red card and attached it all to the cut down card blank.

I would like to enter these challenges:

Christmas Kickstart - Dachshund through the snow

PINK & GREEN OR BLUE & ORANGE?

Good Morning Everyone,

It is time for a new challenge at As You Like It and this fortnight we would like you to show us a project using your favourite colour combo of either pink and green or blue and orange.

For me this was a fairly easy choice. I love pink and green together.  I like blue too, but orange is a colour I would never pick to go with it.

I have made a card for my daughter's birthday with Brittany from Stamping Bella.  I've coloured her with copics and added her to a larger card than I normally use, a C5 size.   I've cut large numbers with my Stampin' Up dies 3 times to give a bit of depth and the celebrate stamp/die is from Clearly Besotted. Some flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and a small piece of ribbon finish it off.  I wanted to add more, but nothing seemed to look right so I had to leave it as is.

I've used snippets on this card for the layers of numbers and sentiment and also the green patterned paper which is old LOTV, so will be entering this into Pixie's Snippets Playground.

The sponsor for this challenge is:

60th Birthday

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you've had a lovely weekend.  Mine was pretty quiet, I managed to get some gardening done yesterday after the wind had died down from Saturday and also had a little crafting time.

I am sharing a card made for a friend for her 60th.  I've hand stitched the top layer and distressed and inked all the edges. The papers I think are Dovecraft and I've added a doily die, pretty flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, pearls, die cut leaves and tiny dragonflies.  The sentiment is embossed in gold on vellum.  The numbers were cut with a Marianne design die set.

I would like to enter these challenges:

Hello All,

Back again with my second post today and the new theme over at Sparkles Christmas this month is "It's Snowtime!".

For my DT card I have used a Whipper Snapper stamp, that hasn't seen ink before, of these three cute snowballs.  I've coloured them with copics and used paper from an old LOTV pad.  I've also added lots of snow by way of a stencil and paste and added glitter to the paste while still wet.  The bottom layer is silver mirri card.

I hope you will be able to join in this month.

Favourite Flower?

Good Morning Everyone,

I have 2 posts today, that's 4 this week, must be a record for me!

It is time for a new challenge at As You Like It and for this fortnight we would like to see a project containing your favourite flowers (and don't forget to say why they are your fave please).

I have chosen pansies.  I have them in pots during the winter and summer months and I love their beautiful shades of my favourite colours, blue and purple.

I have used an image from an old LOTV art pad and die cut it with a Tattered Lace die.  I've  heat embossed the sentiment and added lace, purple ribbon, pearls and a small die cut butterfly. A quick card to make, it just took me a while to decide what type of layout to use.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

with a lovely prize for the lucky winner

I would like to enter these challenges:

Thank you for taking the time to visit, it is much appreciated and I will be back soon.
