SENTIMENT OR NOT AT AYLI

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope everyone is well. We have a new challenge starting over at As You Like It and we are asking whether you prefer to have a sentiment on your cards or not (and don't forget to say why please).

I always put a sentiment on my cards.  I think it finishes them off and it's also the first thing the recipient reads.

I have used these cute dies from Honey Bee stamps again called Bundle of Joy, but this time for a boy. I've just had a look at my last one and can't believe it's 2 years since I made it! Where does the time go to.  I've used the same layout as before, but with snippets of more boyish papers.  The Congrats die is from Creative Expressions and the strip underneath made on the pc.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

I would like to enter:

Crafty Calendar - Add a Sentiment
Crafty Catz - Anything Goes
Penny's Paper Crafty - Anything Goes
Snippets Playground - Baby clothes and hangers are snippets, but no photo, sorry
Paper Funday Challenge - Anything Goes

I look forward to seeing your entries, have a good day.  I am cat sitting this week while the daughter is away and go twice a day to feed him so that's what I will be doing next.

See you soon,

BABY GIRL

 Morning Everyone,

This the card I made for my younger daughter's first baby. She had her by caesarian as baby had turned the wrong way, both doing well.  The interrupted sleep at night is a bit of a shock to her and her boyfriend, but everyone has to go through it and it will only get better eventually (hopefully)  :) .

When I saw the Bundle of Joy dies from Honey Bee Stamps on the Dies to Die For website I knew I wanted to have a play.  I had a big search through my snippets to find patterns small enough for baby clothes and this is what I came up with.  I think they are all from LOTV pads apart from the pink set of trousers on the left.  The coat hangers and hooks were cut 3 times and glued together for strength. I coloured the bindings on the two pieces on the right with copics and the white frills on the green piece with a white paint pen.

The Congrats die is from Creative Expressions and the smaller piece underneath was created on the computer.

Photo of snippets, some before cutting and some after.  The lilac one was an afterthought so not in the photo.

I would like to enter:

Allsorts - Anything but square
Snippets Playground - all the dies were from snippets
Crafty Calendar - Anything Goes

Lets Craft and Create - Add dots or Stripes

Thank you for visiting and I hope you have a good week.

BABY GIRL

 Morning Everyone,

Another request from my daughter for a baby card, I have one more to do, but that's not due until August.  I'm just pleased that she likes them enough to ask me to make them.

This is another LOTV image on a 8x8 card.   I do like their baby images, they are so cute.  I have coloured her with copics and used papers to match, also from old LOTV paper pads. The dies are from Spellbinders, Stampin Up and Hunkydory.

I would like to enter this into:

Passion for Markers - Spots and/or stripes
Simon Says Weds - Anything Goes

Thank you for taking the time to visit and have a good day.

BEGINNING WITH 'B'

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you've had a good weekend.  Today is the start of a new challenge at the Cutie Pie challenge and our theme is "Something Beginning with B" so it must be cute and begin with 'b'.

My daughter has asked me for a couple of baby cards so I decided to go with Baby Boy for the theme.  He has been coloured with copics to match the papers.  The image and sentiment are from LOTV and I've used various dies to add a bit of interest.  I feel as though I can't add lace or flowers for boys so they are always a bit plainer than a girl's card.

I would like to enter:

Ally's Angels - Anything Goes
Snippets Playground #423 - Use snippets (these were everything above the alphabet paper)
PIP challenge #2211 - Anything Goes

Thank you for visiting and have a good week.

HELLO BABY

 Good Morning Everyone,

It is time for a new challenge over at As You Like It and we are asking whether you prefer to use dies or stencils on your projects.

It's definitely dies for me.  I use them on most of my cards and they can enhance a card so easily.  I have used a LOTV image for my baby card, coloured with copics, and the circle die is from Craft Consortium.  Other dies used are the stars, banners and the stitched squares and sentiment.

The prize this week is a voucher from:

I would like to enter:

I hope you will be able to join us in the challenge and thank you for visiting.

BABY ONESIE

 Morning Everyone,

This is the card I made when my daughter had her baby.  He is now 6 weeks old so I thought I'd better share it.

I wanted to make something a bit different for her so the lovely Annette from Netty's cards kindly sent me her baby onesie template to use. It wasn't that easy for me as I had to cut out by hand and that's not one of my favourites things to do, but I got there in the end.  The papers are from a Baby Mine pad by Carta Bella and I hand stitched around the edges.  I've coloured the LOTV image with copics to match the papers and added little heart shaped pearls and the sentiment, which is also from LOTV.

I would like to enter:

Passion for Markers - Something beginning with B (baby)
Simon Says Stamp Weds - Lots of Layers
Classic Design Challenge - Anything Goes
Cute Card Thursday - Anything Goes

A quiet day for me today so I'm hoping to get some crafting time and maybe a bit of gardening.
Whatever you will be doing, have a good one, thank you for visiting and I do love to read any comments you may leave.

FAVOURITE SHAPE OF CARD?

Good Morning Everyone,

It is time for a new challenge at As You Like It and we are asking you to showcase your favourite shape of card other than a square or rectangle.

I still love this Go Kreate shape although I don't use it as often as I should really.  I think it makes a card look that bit more special than my usual square, especially for occasions such as a new baby.

This card was for daughter's friend and they didn't know whether it was a boy or girl hence my choice of colours.  I have used a LOTV simply print  and just coloured the teddy with a marker and made the babygro a little darker too.  Lots of embellishments added to finish it off including the little tags from Mama Elephant and the heart die from Gummiapan.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

with a lovely prize for the lucky winner

I hope you will join us with all your different shapes and you can pop over here to see the fab cards from the rest of the DT.

I would like to enter:

BABY CARD

Good Morning Everyone,

I am back with a DT card for the new As You Like It challenge where we are asking for your favourite reason to send a card.

I don't get to send many of these, but I do love making baby cards.  It is such a joyous occasion for the parents and so nice to send them a handmade card and I'm sure most people do save their baby cards.
This is another my daughter asked me to make for a friend who loves the shabby chic style.

I have coloured the LOTV image with copics and cut it out with a sizzix oval die.  I've distressed and hand stitched the edges of the Maja Design paper and added all the embellishments including a small metal dummy, lace, flowers, chipboard hearts and pearls.

BRIGHTS OR PASTELS?

 Good Morning Everyone,

I'm back again with my 4th card of the week and it is for the start of a new challenge at As You Like It where we are asking whether you prefer brights or pastels for your projects.

I do like both, but I think it all depends on the occasion and who it is for, so as my card is for a baby I much prefer pastels and have used papers from my favourite baby paper pad from Echo Park.  I have used my baby bottle stencil again and coloured up a LOTV image.  I have used a pearl string, twine and a die cut little flower to decorate.  The sentiment is also from LOTV.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

FAVOURITE NON-BIRTHDAY OCCASION

Morning Everyone,

I hope you are all keeping safe and well.  It is time for a new challenge at As You Like It and this time we would like to see your favourite non-birthday occasion on your projects.

I love making Christmas and new baby cards and because my daughter asked me to make her a card, this is the occasion I have chosen.  I have used a cute LOTV image coloured with copics and also old LOTV papers. I have used Memory box dies for the letters and added embellies by way of flowers, pearls, lace and ribbon.  The sentiment is also a LOTV stamp.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

with a lovely prize for the winner

I would like to enter:

SOMETHING FOR BABY AT AYLI

Good Morning All,

It is time for a new challenge at As You Like It and for this fortnight the theme is "Something for Baby" so we would like to see your favourite projects for babies (and don't forget to say why please).

The only thing I make for babies is cards and I do try to make them a different shape from my normal square cards as it is such a special occasion for the parents and I should think most save them as keepsakes.

For my DT card I have tried the Dutch Doobadoo bottle shaped stencil.  I must admit I didn't find it easy as I don't like fussy cutting. The straight bits were ok, it was the curves etc that I struggled with.

I used a cute image from Digistamp Boutique and coloured with copics.  This was also a problem in that my pens didn't seem to like being used in the hot weather.  Two of them let out an ink blob on the image, but I just about managed to save the second one and a couple of pens seemed to be sticky too!

The papers are from a Carta Bella pad called Baby Mine and embellishments added are Memory Box baby ducks, a die cut flower shaped button, a chipboard word from Make It Crafty and a little string of pearls.  I've also used glitter glue on the bubbles.

The sponsor for the challenge is Crafty Ribbons, so a lovely prize for the lucky winner.

I hope you like my make and I would like to enter these challenges:

Colour Crazy Challenge wk 25 - Anything Goes
Crafting by Design - Anything Goes
Crafts Galore - Anything Goes
Crafty Friends - Things Beginning with B (Bear, Baby, Bubbles, Bottle)

That's all for now. I hope you have a lovely weekend,

ONE OR MORE LAYERS?

Good Morning Everyone,

The last day of February, I can't believe how fast it has gone and how lovely the weather has been this week too!

It is time for a new challenge at As You Like It and for this fortnight we would like you to showcase a project with your favourite amount of layers, either one or many (and why please).

I always make cards with more than one layer.  I do love the look of one layer cards (other people's), but I always want to add more to them and I have loads of patterned papers to use too!  For my card I have chosen a LOTV stamp called Clouds, coloured with copics,   and used papers from a pad called Baby Mine by Carta Bella.  I have hand stitched round the edges and used a Memory Box clouds die.  Enamel dots and a sentiment from LOTV finish it off.

The sponsor for this challenge is

Polkadoodles Ltd

I hope you can join in this fortnight and you can view the inspiration from the DT here.

I would like to enter these challenges:

AYLI DT - YOUR FAVOURITE COLOURING MEDIUM

Morning Everyone,

Today is the start of another challenge over at As You Like It and this fortnight we would like to see projects using your favourite colouring medium (and don't forget to tell us why please).

This is the second baby card I made for my daughter, but I think she liked the round shape of the last one best, so this didn't get picked.  It's a digital image from Papernest Dolls which I've coloured with Copic markers.  They are my favourite way to colour at the moment as they are the pens I started with and are most familiar with.  I did get a new set of polychromos pencils for Christmas, but only had a few dabbles with them so far.

I did actually make a boo boo with this card.  I won't go into full details apart from I've been trying some new glue and it just gets all over the place!  Anyway, the heart and the congratulations sentiment aren't where they were originally intended.

The paper I've used is a retired pad from LOTV and the doily rectangle die is from Tattered Lace.

NEW BABY

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all keeping well. As I am typing this (Wednesday) it is raining and has been a wet and miserable day, but I think Thursday is supposed to be better.

My daughter asked me to make her a new baby girl card for a friend due in April so I made 2 and this is the one she chose.

I've used a clear stamp set which I won recently from Digistamp boutique. I coloured the cute image with copics and for the card base have used my Tattered Lace Essential Doily Dies.  The largest one is a good 5.5" so it's not much smaller than my usual 6" square cards and the edges are so pretty.  The sentiment came with the stamp and I've used silver metallic for this as black looked too harsh.  The papers are a mixture and I've added narrow white ribbon and a little flower.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

Allsorts - New Beginnings
CCC Digi Creations - Include an animal
Creative Moments 140 - Anything Goes
The Ribbon Girl - Anything Goes
Penny's Paper Crafty 374 - Anything Goes

Thank you for visiting and I do love it when you leave a comment, they are much appreciated.

Have a good weekend,

AYLI DT - ANYTHING GOES

Good Morning Everyone,

After our Christmas break it's time for a new challenge at As You Like It and the theme for this fortnight is nice and easy as it's Anything Goes.

If you'd like to pop over to the challenge here you'll be able to see the lovely makes from the rest of the team.

AYLI DT - FAVOURITE EMBELLISHMENT

Morning Everyone

It's time for another challenge at As You Like It and this fortnight's theme is to showcase a project using your favourite embellishment (and don't forget to tell us why it's your favourite please).

I have made a baby card for my daughter's friend and although I love all the usual embellishments, i.e. flowers, pearls etc., another of my favourites are the heart shaped doilies.  I love them, they are so pretty, quick and easy to use without adding bulk to a card.

I have used a LOTV image coloured with copics and the papers are First Edition. The sentiment is also LOTV and I've added clear glitter with a Spectrum Noir sparkle pen to the balloon, stars and bow.

The sponsor for this challenge is

AYLI DT - FAVOURITE STAMP BRAND

Morning Everyone,

It's time for another challenge over at As You Like It and this fortnight's theme is to showcase a project using your favourite stamp brand (and don't forget to let us know why).

I think that by the amount of stamps I have mine must be Lili of the Valley.   I love cute images and they have such a variety - there's usually one for any occasion you can think of.

For my card I've used an older stamp and this is the second of the 2 baby cards I've made as mentioned in my previous post.

I have coloured him with copics, distressed the edges of the papers which are Maja Design Vintage Baby and slightly inked the edges of the image with weathered wood distress ink.  I have added cheesecloth, a heart shaped doily and a small feeding bottle all from Live and Love Crafts.  Three little flowers and a few pearls finish it off.

The sponsor for this challenge is

NEW BABY

Morning Everyone,

I hope you've had a good weekend and managed to do some of the things you enjoy most.

My daughter asked me if I'd make a new baby boy card for one of her friends so I've made 2 in different styles for her to chose from.  This is the first one:

I've used a pre-coloured LOTV image and added a few embellies, but I don't like to put too many on for a boy.  I think you can make girls' cards a lot prettier but I'm never sure what to put on with boys. The sentiment tags are also LOTV which I stamped in Rusty Hinge distress ink to go with the kraft card.  Black didn't seem to really go with all the brown.

I'll see you in a few days with the next baby card.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday 467 - Anything Goes
Fab n Funky - Baby
A Gem of a Challenge - At least 3 B's (Baby, button, bow, blue, brown)
The Ribbon Girl - Any Card
Polka Doodles - Anything Goes

Thank you for visiting and any comments you leave are appreciated.

NEW BABY

Hi Everyone

Something of a change from christmas cards today.  My daughter will soon be in need of a new baby card for a friend and as they know it's a girl I thought I'd make a pretty pink one.

I've used a pre-coloured LOTV image as I bought quite a few when I started crafting and need to use some up. The lacy doily die is from Joy Crafts, the flowers from Noor Design and WOC and the sentiment tags from LOTV.

I enjoyed making this and am pleased with the way it turned out.  Maybe go onto birthday cards next as I think I've overdone it with christmas ones, we'll see.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Noor Design - Flowers and lace
In the Pink - Photo inspiration
Ribbon Girl - Any image
Fab n Funky - Ribbon/lace
Crafting from the Heart - Anything Goes

Thank you for visiting.  I always love reading your encouraging comments.
