LAYERS OF BEAUTY

 Morning Everyone,

I hope you have had a good weekend.  The weather here has been much more bearable than of late.

I have used a Stampin Up set for this card,  which consists of stamp, stencil and die, called Layers of Beauty.  

I stamped onto smooth cardstock and used my Altenew mini ink cubes through the stencil, die cut and added it to my topper which has a snippet of yellow flowered DSP to match the flowers.  The sentiment is heat embossed in gold and from a Penny Black Sprinkles and Smiles sentiment set.

EMBOSSING

 Morning Everyone,

A new challenge starts today at Allsorts and I have chosen the subject of Embossing (heat or dry) as the theme and there is always Anything Goes too.

When I was looking on Youtube a while ago a video came up about embossing on patterned paper so I thought I'd have a go.  I had a search through my papers and chose this piece.  I didn't want it too patterned as I didn't want it to overpower the embossing.  So I cut out the stitched rectangle first the then embossed it with Altenew's Decorative Florals folder.   Then I lightly inked the raised areas with Hero Arts White pigment ink.  I used a piece of the same paper for the heat embossed sentiment and added a few pearls and gems to finish it off.  

I am pleased with how it turned out especially with the white ink showing up against the darker background and will be trying more of this technique soon.

FAVOURITE COLOURING MEDIUM?

Morning Everyone,

We have a new challenge starting over at As You Like It and we are asking you to share projects using your favourite colouring medium and to be a prize winner you must say why it's your favourite.

Mine is copic markers.  I have used them since I started making cards am more experienced with them and I love how they blend so well.  I do have a go with Zig markers now and then, but mainly for florals.

For my card I have used the Waffle Flower postage die and added my Mama Elephant Reindeer Games stamp set.  The deer, tree and presents have been coloured with copics, die cut and added onto the little squares which I've inked with blue ink.  The sentiment is from a Hero Arts set.

TREES

Hello Everyone,

I bought this Pretty Pink Posh tree cover plate die a while ago with the aim of using up snippets of paper.

This is my first play with it and I decided to go with red snippets. After cutting the plate out in white cardstock I taped the snippets to the back of the die and cut them out and then inlaid into the spaces.  This leaves all the white cut out trees so will have to have a play with them at a later date.  I've heat embossed the sentiment onto a piece of red card and added it to the middle.

SANTA'S SLEIGH

Hello All,

I hope you are well and enjoying the warm weather. 

I've made this Christmas card with some challenges in mind.

It consists of a Spellbinders die called "Delivering Joy Sleigh" which has been cut from snippets, added onto a stitched edge square of hammered cardstock.  The sentiment, which has the letters cut out instead of being stamped, is also from Spellbinders, but not part of the sleigh set.

COLOURS OF SUMMER

 

Morning Everyone,

Today we start a new challenge over at Allsorts and Sarah  has chosen the subject "Colours of Summer" to run alongside Anything Goes.

For my card I have used a Simon Says Stamp called So Beautiful.  I stamped it in Versafine Onyx Black and then clear heat embossed.  I have coloured everything with my Zig markers and heat embossed the sentiment, which is an old one from LOTV, in gold.

FAVOURITE SAFARI ANIMAL

Morning Everyone,

We have a new challenge starting over at As You Like It and the subject is "Your Favourite Safari Animal".  This is my DT card.

Have you ever had a disaster right at the end of making a card?  Well that's what happened to this one.  Somehow orange ink appeared just below a die cut sentiment and no matter how I tried to get rid, it wouldn't work so the layout has turned out completely different to what I had intended.  I had to tear the sentiment off and cut the image down, which is an old one from Wild Rose Studio, and extend it with some mini scalloped edgers.  I only had one small bit of the striped paper left and it wouldn't fit top and bottom without the edgers.  Then to top it all the sentiment, which is from LOTV, didn't stamp properly onto the image so I had to cut a small stitched rectangle and add that on top.

With that little rant over I have to say I do love Elephants as my safari choice, especially young ones.  I love seeing them run about when they are small and they look so cute.

DIVINE PEONY

Morning Everyone,

I've had a play over the weekend with this Divine Peony die from Simon Says Stamp.

I cut it out with white cardstock and coloured the flower with Distress Oxides Tattered Rose, Saltwater Taffy and Worn Lipstick.  The greenery was coloured with two Altenew mini ink cubes.  I had a search through my patterned papers and found this sheet with a touch of pink at the top so went with that. The sentiment is heat embossed in gold and is from a SSS set called Celebrating You.

SEASIDE

Morning Everyone,

We have a new challenge starting over at Allsorts where the theme is "Seaside" as well as Anything Goes. 

I have used a Stampin Up set for my card called Oceanfront.  Everything is from that set except the birds which are from the SU Sail Away stamp and the sentiment which has been heat embossed in white.  Matted onto kraft card it is a fairly straightforward and will probably go to my brother who lives in Cornwall.

The prize is a collection of stamps for one winner from Stamp Addicts.

FAVOURITE PET?

Morning All,

We have a new challenge today over at AYLI and we are sking you to shire a project containing your favourite pet. 

Apart from a few fish over the years dogs are the only pet I've had.  We have a little ruby Cavalier at the moment who is nearly 14 and the house would seem really empty without him.

I have made a tag for my DT project with a little pup from the MFT Happy Pawlidays stamp set.  I have coloured him with copics.  The sentiment is from the same set and the tag die, together with the topper which has been cut from a snippet of paper, is from Marianne Design.

CAS WITH DIES

 Morning All,

I hope you are managing to keep cool in the heat we are having at the moment.

I won a previous CAS on Friday challenge with my Christmas Birds card and am pleased to have been invited to be a Guest DT for their new challenge which is 'CAS with Dies'.

I don't normally make CAS type cards as I struggle a bit with all the white space.  For this one I used Cute Open Rose from Altenew in a peachy colour card and darkened them in the centre with some ink.  The leaves were cut in white cardstock and inked with two shades of green from Altenew.  A Tessatina die from Memory Box has been added to a stitched rectangle of linen card amd the two flowers added.  The sentiment is heat embossed onto gold card and is from LOTV.

USE STENCILS

Morning Everyone,

We have a new challenge starting over at Allsorts and the optional theme to go with Anything Goes is Use Stencils.

I have used a Gina K stencil called Modern Hyrdrangeas and coloured them with Oxides, Saltwater Taffy and Worn Lipstick.  The leaves are two shades of green from Gina K mini ink cubes.  I have added a Creative Expressions sentiment in gold mirri card and a few gold and pink sequins for a bit of sparkle.

Two winners will each receive three random stencils/sets from those below.

NON CARD PROJECT AT AYLI

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you are all well.  I had a dental appointment yesterday for root canal treatment.  I can honestly say I was dreading it, but thankfully it was a lot better than I thought.  One more appointment in a fortnight, but at least I know what to expect now.

Anyway, enough of that.  It's time for a new challenge over at As You Like It and we are asking you to share your favourite non-card projects.  It can be anything from tags and boxes to knitting etc.

Over the last few months, when the mood takes me and in between cards,  I have been decorating this little house shaped shelving unit.  I used to belong to a monthly subscribed club called Crafteezee and this little unit came with that along with lots of embellishments that I wouldn't use on a card so I decided to get on with it and use some up.  I painted it in white emulsion and decorated the rooms with snippets of paper.  I rummaged through my stash for anything suitable and arranged them into their little rooms.

CHRISTMAS BIRDS

 Morning Everyone,

I hope you are managing to stay fairly cool in the heat we are having at the moment here in the UK.  I stayed in most of yesterday and think I will be doing today as well.

I was pleased when I saw the CAS Christmas card challenge had started again as it gives me that incentive to start on said cards.  They used to be my favourite type of card to make, but seem to be lacking in my makes at the moment.

I decided to ink up these unused cuties from Gerda Steiner.  I stamped the branch and birds onto the stitched rectangle and, because I had already inked the card with blue sky, I stamped the birds again onto some snippets of copic friendly card, coloured them and then fussy cut.  I managed to colour the branch over the blue without it showing through.  Glitter was added to their hats and the star and the sentiment, which comes with the set, stamped in black.

 Good Morning Everyone,

For my card I have used two Pretty Pink Posh sets, Spring Birdhouse and Spring Foliage dies.  The bird is an unbranded one and I have coloured him with copics and shaded the flowers with various inks.  Memory box clouds and a sentiment from Penny Black finish it off.

FAVOURITE COLOUR COMBO?

FROM THE GARDEN

Good Morning All,

We have a new challenge starting over at Allsorts and the theme alongside Anything Goes is Anything Goes From the Garden.

I have used a cute Penny Black hedgie image for my card and coloured with copics.  The sentiment is from a LOTV set and I have cut the image out with a Spellbinders set, Venise Lace.   Papers are from First Edition and I've used a MFT mini scalloped edger to divide the two patterns.

Morning Everyone,

We have a new challenge starting over at As You Like It where we are asking for your favourite sentiment. 

I nearly always make birthday cards and I love this large happy birthday die which is from Simon Says Stamp as it goes so well on the larger cards I make for the young ones in the family. 

This is for one of the granddaughters who is mad on these K Pop demon hunters.  I've never seen them so not sure what they are about etc. but they do seem quite popular with girls.   I've used an image from Pinterest and shaded a piece of scrap paper in the same colours to cut the sentiment out.  A few glittery stars and a heart have also been added.

A LITTLE BIRD TOLD ME..

Morning Everyone,

I don't know about anyone else, but it's been way too warm here in the UK for me this weekend.  I've taken the opportunity to have a play in the craft room and came up with this card.

I decided to use a really old stamp from Penny Black called Good Friends.  I bought it a few years ago, second hand, but have never inked it up.  I have coloured her with copics and also used an old Dovecraft paper pad called Painted Blooms.  I have inked the edges of the circle die and sentiment with distress ink and layered everything up with cream cardstock.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

 Morning Everyone,

We have a new challenge starting over at Allsorts where we are having 17th birthday celebrations so the theme is an easy Anything Goes.

For my card I have used the cute Penny Black mice. I think it's called A Stitch in Time and I  have coloured them with copics amd used old LOTV backing papers, together with a gingham ribbon and pearls.  The sentiment is from a Penny Black set.
