WINTER BLUES

 Good Morning Everyone,

My final card before Christmas and it is for the reminder post at Christmas Craft Creations where the theme is Winter Blues.

I thought I'd have a play with my Lovely As a Tree set from Stampin Up and looked on Pinterest and found this card as my inspiration.  I have used a wavy edged die for my reverse mask, inked it up in Soft Sky from Stampin Up and stamped the tree with Stormy Sky distress oxide.  The sentiment is heat embossed in silver and, although you can't see it very well, I have added lots of glitter to the tree for added sparkle.

Whilst having a play I did try out a different shape for the masked area, but ran out of the blue backing paper so that one will probably appear at a later date when I can find the right colour blue or I could ink the edges I suppose with my stamp pad. I'll have to have a go at that when I have more time.

Thank you all for visiting and for all the lovely comments you have left over the past year. I would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas, stay safe,  and let's hope for a better year in 2021.

FAMILY OR FRIENDS?

Good Morning Everyone,

A birthday card for a change from me today.  There is a new challenge at As You Like It and we are asking whether you prefer to make cards etc. for family or friends.

I do make for both, but I tend to make for family more as I like to embellish and adapt them to their interests.  This one was for my daughter who has a new interest in baking, hence the image, which is from Mo Manning.  I have coloured her with copics and used papers from either Pion or Maja design, I can't remember which.  The sentiments are from LOTV and small flowers and pearls have been added.

We are sponsored by:

I hope you will be able to join us in the last challenge before Christmas and pop over to the challenge to see the lovely projects from the rest of the team.

INSPIRED BY A XMAS FILM

Good Morning Everyone,

There's a new challenge at As You Like It and the theme is for you to share a project "Inspired by Your Favourite Christmas Film".

I don't watch many films at Christmas, but I do like Elf with Will Ferrell in his green suit.  I just think it's so funny and we all need laughter in our lives at the moment.  I have made a small 4" card with snippets from a Doodlebug pad, an MFT stamp coloured with copics and a Simon Says Stamp die cut.  I've used stitched dies and a stitched mini scallop die to finish the edges off. A really simple card, great for posting.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

I would like to enter:

ABC Christmas - Your favourite things - dies
Sketchy Challenges - Christmas
Pixie's Snippets Playground - All snippets apart from the sentiment die.
Simon Says Stamp Weds - Fun with Dies
Cute Card Thursday - Anything Goes

I think we'll be putting our Christmas decorations up this weekend so it will be a busy one. Whatever you'll be doing I hope it's a good one and stay safe.

NON TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS COLOURS

Good Morning Everyone,

I'm a little late with my DT post for the new challenge at Sparkles Christmas where the theme is Non Traditional Christmas colours.

For my card I've used trees from a LOTV stamp set in a variety of colours.  The stamps are rubber so they weren't so easy to use as clear, but my stamping platform did make it easier.  I've added glitter in matching colours to various stars.  I heat embossed the sentiment in silver onto the purple mat and cut the centre circle with a dual stitched die.

I would like to enter:

Allsorts - Christmas Wreaths, Flowers and Trees
Creatalicious 200 - Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp Weds - Anything Goes

It's a lovely sunny day here today so will probably get out into the garden to tidy up and fill our final green bin for the year.

I hope you are having a good week, thank you for visiting and stay safe.

ANYTHING BUT A CARD

Good Morning Everyone,

It is time for my reminder post for Christmas Craft Creations where the theme is "Anything But a Card".

We give our grown up children money as well as a few presents so I decided to make a money gift envelope. I had a look at measurements on Pinterest and scored my white card and decorated with papers from the Snow Princess pad from LOTV.  I didn't have anything to fasten it with so make a band to match and added two small glittery flowers and a foliage die cut from my little box of unused bits.

This is the only one I've made so I'll probably have to get my skates on to make another so at least the 2 girls have one to open.

Not long to go now until the big day.  I've been busy on-line shopping for presents this year but will have to venture out when we are able to to get a few extra little bits.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and I hope you will be able to join us this month.

CHRISTMAS FLORALS

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you've had a good weekend.  We had a lovely walk yesterday with the dogs and they seemed to enjoy it.  Sometimes when it's cold they don't want to venture far, I think they like the warmth and comfort of home.

I am sharing a card I've made with part of a Power Poppy image call Winter Flora.  I have coloured it with copics and heat embossed the sentiment in silver.  I was unsure on what colour to use for the baubles and don't use this shade of blue much, but I was quite pleased with how it turned out.

I would like to enter:

Stamping Sensations - Christmas Flowers
The Flower Challenge - Use a Sentiment
Creative Moments - Anything Goes

A quiet day ahead for me so, hopefully, I will get down to a bit more colouring.

Thank you for visiting and I wish you a safe and happy week.

P.S.  I would like to thank Beverly and Pat for becoming my latest followers.  I hope you enjoy seeing my makes.

SNOWMEN OR PENGUINS?

 Good Morning Everyone,

It is time for a new challenge at As You Like It and this time we are asking whether you prefer Snowmen or Penguins on your projects.

I do like both, but I have chosen Snowmen as they remind me more of my younger days and building snowmen in the garden.  We don't seem to have enough snow around long enough nowadays, but then I am more happy looking at it from the warmth of the house now than trudging about in it.

For my card I have used a LOTV image, which I converted from a Jpeg into a Png and then used it in front of one of the digital papers, also from LOTV.  I have coloured with copics and heat embossed a sentiment in gold.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

with a prize for the lucky winner.

ADD A BUTTON/BUTTONS

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you've had a good weekend in these uncertain times.  The weather wasn't brilliant here.  We took the dogs for a walk yesterday and although it wasn't raining, it was really windy and cold.

I am back with a reminder post for the Cutie Pie challenge where the theme is Add a Button/Buttons.  We were kindly provided with images by the sponsor, Polkadoodles, and I have used Jump for Joy digi, which can be found here.  I have coloured her with copics and used papers from an old LOTV pad together with kraft for the mats.  Not many embellishments on this one, whatever I tried just didn't seem to look right.

There's plenty of time left to join in so I hope you can pop over and have a look at the inspiration from the team.

I would like to enter:

HIS OR HERS BIRTHDAY?

 Good Morning Everyone,

It is time for a new challenge at As You Like It and we are asking whether you prefer to make His or Hers Birthday cards.

I always prefer female cards. I have a lot more suitable embellishments to use and always struggle with a man's card.  I usually end up with buttons or stars for a man.

For my DT card I have used a LOTV number bear and paper pieced the number in dotty paper. I have coloured teddy with copics and the papers are also from a LOTV old pad.  The flowers are Creative Expressions and I have used a Memory box alphabet die for the name.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

with a voucher for the lucky winner.

I hope you will be able to join us. I know I'm hoping to get a bit more crafting done now that lockdown has started here, but I also need to do some on-line Christmas shopping. I've hardly started yet!

I would like to enter:

Allsorts - For Children or Teens

GOLD OR SILVER AND/OR GLITTER

Good Morning Everyone,

It is time for a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas and the theme this month is Gold or Silver and/or Glitter.

For my DT card I have used a Penny Black poinsettia which I heat embossed in gold and fussy cut.  The edge die is also from Penny Black and the sentiment, which is also embossed in gold, is from LOTV.   I have added a few sparklies too.

This isn't the original card I made for the challenge as when I saw the original on screen I wasn't happy and decided after much thought to make a fresh one.  It didn't take long as it is very similar to the first but with a slight alteration to the flower and sentiment placement.

Not long to go now to Christmas, but I think sadly  it will be a lot different this year for many of us.

I would like to enter:

Dragonfly Dreams - Christmas
Christmas Kickstart - Festive Florals

CHRISTMAS MUSIC

 Good Morning Everyone,

This is a card made for the reminder post at Christmas Craft Creations where the theme is Christmas Music.

For my card I have used the cute Lawn Fawn set, Here We Go a Waddling, which I won at Pixie's   Snippets Playground run by the lovely Di a while ago. I have coloured a distress oxide background and used the dies for the set to cut out the penguins and lamp after colouring them with copics. The forest tree background die is also from Lawn Fawn and a Memory Box die for the star.

I hope you like my creation and that it might inspire you to enter the challenge where there is a lovely stamp set from Clearly Besotted on offer as the prize for the winner.

Blogger seems to be messing with my paragraphs today. I usually have them on Left align, but this doesn't seem to work at the moment so I've had to put them on Justify, but it doesn't look too bad.

BLUE & ? AT AYLI

Good Morning Everyone,

It is time for a new challenge at As You Like it and we would like to see your favourite colour to go with blue (and don't forget to say why please).

For birthday cards I don't really have a favourite combination, but for wintery cards I think blue and white go so well together.  The combination adds to the coolness and wintery feel.

For my card I have used the cute Mo Manning Giggling Snowman, coloured him with copics and fussy cut him out.  The Winter Doily die is from Joy Crafts and I have cut the Merry die at least twice, once with a scrap of white then the blue to match the bottom layer paper.  The Christmas sentiment has been embossed in white onto a scrap of the blue paper. Little blue pearls finish it off.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

Well we had a really miserable day here yesterday, rained all day, but I did manage to meet some friends for lunch and a catch up so it wasn't too bad.

Thank you for visiting and enjoy the weekend when it arrives.

TOO CUTE TO SPOOK

 Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you've had a good weekend.  This is my reminder post for the Cutie Pie challenge where the theme is Too Cute to Spook.

For my card I have used a Rachelle Anne Miller digi. I thought these were really cute when I saw them, especially the little squirrel ghost so just had to buy them, as you do.  I coloured with copics and fussy cut them out.  The background is a mix of distress oxides. I masked the moon and coloured that in afterwards and then had a rummage to see what I could used in black card.  I came up with a Memory Box twiggy tree die and the smaller trees and fence are from a Wild Rose Studio die.  The bats were stamped last.

I don't usually make Halloween cards, but I have just the person to send it to, my niece.  Her dad really goes over the top in decorating the house front.

70TH BIRTHDAY

Good Morning Everyone,

I can't believe it's over 11 days since I last posted!   I hope you've had an enjoyable weekend.

I am sharing a card made for my sister in law's Mum earlier this year.

I have used a chipboard element for the centre which I painted with cream distress paint, have hand stitched around the top layer of paper and used lot of embellishments by way of lace, pearls and paper flowers.  The leaves are die cut from a Memory Box die and there is a tag at the top between the layers which has Happy Birthday embossed in gold.

I'm pleased to say she was over the moon when she received it.

VINTAGE CHRISTMAS

 Good Morning Everyone,

The 1st of the month brings a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas and the theme is Vintage Christmas.

For my DT card I have used an image from an old crafting magazine and added gold sheen card for the mats, a gold bow and have distressed the edges of all papers.  A linen impression plate has been used on the deep red paper, but you can't see it on the photo.

I'm afraid the bow will make it a large letter for the post, but that can't be helped.  It does annoy me sometimes how they do it by thickness as well as size. The little gap they slide it through at the p.o. is so small, you can hardly put anything extra on!

RUDOLPH DAYS

 Good Morning Everyone,

Running in last minute with my card for the September Rudolph Days challenge.

This is card is totally not how it was supposed to turn out.  I didn't like my first idea when it was all arranged so this is what I came up with in the end.  I have used an Xcut mini stag die and used scraps of patterned paper for the squares.  A memory box snowflake circle has been slightly snipped and extra snowflakes added so it fits squarely under the green paper.

BRIGHTS OR PASTELS?

 Good Morning Everyone,

I'm back again with my 4th card of the week and it is for the start of a new challenge at As You Like It where we are asking whether you prefer brights or pastels for your projects.

I do like both, but I think it all depends on the occasion and who it is for, so as my card is for a baby I much prefer pastels and have used papers from my favourite baby paper pad from Echo Park.  I have used my baby bottle stencil again and coloured up a LOTV image.  I have used a pearl string, twine and a die cut little flower to decorate.  The sentiment is also from LOTV.

There are 5 fabulous sponsors for this challenge and I have used an image from one of them, Di's Digistamps, simply called Cat and Mouse which you can find here.  I have coloured them with copics and used papers from an Echo Park pad called Birthday Wishes.

The sentiment is from LOTV and I have  added little coloured stars to match the balloons.

SAIL AWAY TAKE 2

 Good Afternoon Everyone,

I hope you are having a good weekend.

This is my second card with this stamp, hence the title, and it is for my brother who likes to sail.

The stamp is from Stampin Up which I have stamped in navy onto the blue paper, together with a LOTV sentiment, also in navy.   I have matted with kraft and navy card and added hessian and two metal buttons.  I always struggle with masculine cards as to what to add on them.  I must say the photo makes the hessian look lopsided, but I can safely say it is definitely straight in real life!

I would like to enter:

Time Out Challenge - Adventurous
Stamping Sensations - The Great Outdoors
Crafty Hazelnuts Patterned Paper - use patterned paper

It's a lovely day here today, but I will be spending most of it colouring up some images and hubby will be watching his favourite football team on the computer then we are having a take away from one of our favourite pubs later tonight so I will be looking forward to that.

Thank you for visiting and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE STENCIL?

Good Morning Everyone,

At As You Like It this week the challenge is all about stencils.  We would like to see a project made using your favourite stencil.

I don't use stencils much, but for my DT card I have used a Studio Katia Duo Stencil which I purchased from a FB group a while ago.  I thought it would it would be very adaptable for cards for anyone, depending on the colours used.

I had a play with some distress oxides but didn't really like how solid they appeared, so I tried the distress inks I had and it seemed easier to shade with them.  I just had a play around with the colours I had, but am pretty happy with how it turned out.  I heat embossed Happy in gold, which was quite a brave move for me, but it turned out ok and then added the large birthday die, which I think is from Mama Elephant.

I drew a few strings in and added the final touches of sequins and enamel dots.

The sponsor this week is:

FESTIVE THINGS WITH WINGS

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you've had a good Bank Holiday weekend.  It is time for a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas and the theme this month is Festive Things with Wings.

For my DT card I have used an old Penny Black set, 12 days of Christmas.  I coloured them with pencils this time as there wasn't a lot of colouring to do.  I'm not very practiced with pencils so don't use them very much.  I've added two snippets of holly paper from an old LOTV pad and 4 thin strips of red for the edging.

I hope you will be able to join in and make a start on your Christmas cards.  Not long to go now.

FAVOURITE WAY TO ADD RIBBON?

 Good Morning Everyone,

As you can see from the title our new theme at As You Like It involves ribbon.  We would like you to show us your favourite way of adding ribbon to your projects.

This is a card for my daughter's birthday and I have used a Conie Fong image and coloured her with copics.  I've inked the edges of the papers with Antique Linen DI and also hand stitched.

I don't use ribbon as much as I used to but when I do a favourite way is to attach a piece around part of the card and then add a separate bow.  I'm not very good with bow makers so usually make a bow by wrapping around my fingers.

Little tags from Mama Elephant, a few flowers and pearls finish it off.

MAGAZINE FREEBIE

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you are having a good weekend.  I thought I would share this card with an image which was a magazine freebie first spotted on Jules' lovely card here. I wanted to start making more floral cards and thought it would be perfect.

I have embossed it in gold and coloured with Zig clean colour brush markers.  The red paper, which has faint hearts all over, is from a doodlebug pad and I have cut the image with a shaped mini scalloped die  from MFT.  The sentiment is from LOTV.

I would like to enter this into:

PINK AND ? AT AS YOU LIKE IT

Good Morning Everyone,

I am back with my DT card for the next challenge at As You Like It where we would like to see your favourite colour to go with Pink.

I have chosen grey.  I think it looks so pretty and elegant and for my card I have used a floral image from The Ton called Sweet Bouquet and heat embossed it in silver.  I have coloured it in various shades of pink and grey with my Zig clean colour brush pens, fussy cut it out and then added it to the Watercolour stripes die from Altenew.  This is a rectangular die but is just the right height for a 6" square card so I managed to extend it widthways to fit the square.

Grey and pink papers were used underneath and I heat embossed the sentiment onto vellum in silver.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

with a lovely prize for the lucky winner.

It's been way too hot again here and this morning hubby went down extra early (6.30)to let the dogs out so he could get them ready for a walk. We have a little water feature in the garden as he walked passed he saw a baby hedgehog floundering in the water!  He said he only had his little snout out of the water and he could see his little legs paddling away.  He could have been in there for hours and hubby said he looked exhausted.  It was lucky he went outside early or I think we may have had a little body in the pond.

Anyway, this is him after he'd had some cat food and a little rest.
