LOVELY AS A TREE

Hi Everyone,

I thought I'd have a break from the Christmas preparations to post this card which I'd made a while ago.

I bought some of the Heat n Stick powder from Stampin Up where you can add any colour glitter to it when it's warm and tacky so I had a play with this stamp from the Lovely as a Tree set and used bronze glitter.  I wasn't quite sure what to do with it for a while and then I found this paper and won some lovely ribbon that matched perfectly, so I turned it into a small A6 card flat enough to post.

I also have 2 new followers and thank them for joining me. I hope you enjoy seeing my makes.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Crafty Creations 357 - Anything Goes
Creatalicious Challenges -Anything Goes
Let's Craft and Create - Anything Christmas
Sir Stampalot - Winter Trees
That's Crafty - Tis the Season
The Sketchy Challenges - Christmas

Well I think that's it for now.  I hope you all have a Happy Christmas and New Year and thank you for visiting.  I appreciate any comments you leave and love to read them.

PENNY BLACK SATURDAY - GUEST DT

Morning Everyone,

I am joining in again as a Guest DT over at the Penny Black Saturday challenge for their mid-month inspiration post where the theme is Winter/Christmas.

I've made 2 small 5" cards with this little fella who is from the Holly Day Critters stamp set, as is the sentiment. I've used copics to colour and small scraps of different paper for the top layer which has been edged with a stitched mini scalloped border. One has been matted onto kraft card and the other a red card. Glitter has been added to the hat brim and pom pom.

My photo looks a bit wonky, I think it must be the way I've laid the cards out.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday - Festive Colours
Come and Get It - Christmas
Addicted to Stamps - Seasons Greetings
Creative Knockouts - Christmas Delight
Polkadoodles - Anything Goes
A Gem of a Challenge - Anything Christmas Goes
Pixie's Snippets playground - Anything Goes

Thank you for visiting and I do love to read any comments you may wish to leave.  Hopefully, I will be back in the week but, if not, I hope you all have a Happy Christmas and keep well.

AYLI DT - BOX OR BAG

Morning Everyone,

I hope you are keeping well and have not had too much snow.  It was a rainy here yesterday so hopefully we seemed to have missed this latest batch of icy weather.

It is time for another challenge over at As You Like It and this time we would like you to tell us if you prefer to decorate bags or boxes and to showcase a project.  I have chosen a box as I think they are sturdier than bags, they are fairly easy to make and can make smaller presents such as jewellery look a bit more special.

For my little pillow box I have used paper from an 8" First Edition pad, Gilded Winter, but I stuck it onto a piece of white card first to make it that little bit stronger.  I have decorated it with a gold edged ribbon, a large white flower which I edged with gold coloured stickles and some pearl and gold embellishments.  The little gold balls are rescued from the Christmas crackers we had last year.  I've also added a little tag stamped in gold metallic ink.

The sponsor for the challenge is

with a $10 voucher for the lucky winner.

If you'd like to pop over to the challenge here you'll be able to see the inspiration from the rest of the team.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

Winter Wonderland - Anything Christmas Goes
Dream Valley - Christmas
Crafty Calendar - Christmas
Brown Sugar - Anything But a Card
Paper Creator's Crafts - Christmas and New Year
Noor Design - Anything Goes

Thank you for visiting and I appreciate any comments you leave.  In the meantime keep warm,

WINTER/CHRISTMAS - GUEST DT

Morning Everyone,

I'm back again!  Three days in a row is definitely a first for me!

I am pleased to be a guest designer on the Penny Black Saturday challenge today where the theme for December is Winter/Christmas.

I've had a play with this little chap from the Holly Day Critters stamp set and used paper from Crafts and You called Frozen. The little mouse is coloured in copics with his scarf to match the papers.  Dies I've used are stitched circles, stitched squares, mini scalloped edges, Marianne design circle die and the stitched banner die from Creative Expressions. The lovely sparkly ribbon and white pearls finish it off.

If you'd like to pop over to the challenge here you'll be able to see the lovely inspiration from the team.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

Noor Design - Anything Goes
2 Crafty Critter Crazies - Anything Goes

SPARKLES CHRISTMAS DT - SNOWMAN/MEN

Morning Everyone,

I'm back again.  Today is the start of another challenge over at Sparkles Christmas Challenge and the theme is Snowman/men.

For my card I've created a little scene with a Whipper Snapper stamp called Prescott.  He is one of those stamps that when it arrived it was much larger than expected.  I've coloured him with copics and fussy cut him out. The hillside borders are Lawn Fawn and the larger tree is from Find It Trading.  I do normally like to have a sentiment on the front,  but when I'd completed the card I couldn't decide where to put one so it is without for the moment.  I've put liquid appliqué on his hat and skate and stickles around his boots.

I hope you'll be able to join in with this easy peasy theme and if you'd like to pop over to the challenge here you'll be able to see what the rest of the team have been up to.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

AYLI DT - FAVOURITE ANIMAL

Morning Everyone,

It's time for another challenge over at As You Like It and this fortnight's theme is to showcase project
using your favourite animal (and don't forget to tell us why please).

I love most animals, but I have to say dogs are a favourite, especially seeing as I have two of them!  Dogs can be so loyal and affectionate and also funny, if mine are anything to go by.

For my card I've used Party Pup by LOTV.  I found this stamp on Ebay a while ago and I think there are 2 others in the set, which I would love, so if anyone has the others and wants to part with them I would be glad to take them off their hands :).  I've coloured him with copics  and the LOTV sentiment is stamped in gold metallic ink.  I've used gold mirri card and a snippet of green paper for the top piece. There's also some glitter on the little parcel.

The sponsor for this challenge is

with a £10 voucher for the lucky winner

If you'd like to pop over to the challenge here you'll be able to see the lovely inspiration from the rest of the design team.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN

Morning Everyone,

It's time for the final challenge of the year over at Christmas with the Cuties and the theme is "Santa Claus" so we would love to see any of your cute projects featuring Santa Claus.

This is my card featuring a LOTV stamp and some of their retired paper. I coloured him with copics and added some glitter to his furry bits.  The sentiment is from digistamp boutique and the flower is a Sue Wilson poinsettia die.

The sponsor for this challenge is

AYLI DT - FAVE XMAS COLOUR COMBO

Morning Everyone,

I'm back again as it's time for another challenge over at As You Like It and the theme for this fortnight is to showcase a project using your favourite Christmas colour combination (and don't forget to tell us why please).

For wintery outside scenes I like either blue and white or lilac and aqua, which is what I have chosen.
I think I've already used this colour combination as a favourite for a non-Christmas card, but it is a combination that looks good for anything.  They are very pretty colours, but also look cool enough for a wintery feel.

The sponsors, Polkadoodles, kindly provided the team with images and I chose Winnie Winterland - Frosty the Snowman.  I coloured them with copics and used retired LOTV Snow Princess paper.  The edges of the papers have had texture paste and glossy accents added with glitter sprinkled on.

I had a little disaster in that the flower in her hat was the last thing to be coloured and the red pen sprinked on the image!!! Luckily I've managed to get rid of it with the blender pen.  I'll have to be more careful in future.

The lucky winner of the challenge will receive a 3 digi stamp voucher from

so if you'd like to pop over to the challenge here you'll be able to see the lovely inspiration from the rest of the team.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Polkadoodles - Anything Goes
Noor Design - Winter
The Ribbon Girl - Any card
Colour Crazy - Anything Goes
Crafty Addicts - Anything Goes/Christmas

Thank you for visiting and I love to read your comments, they are much appreciated.

Have a good weekend,

SNOW SWIRLED

Morning Everyone,

I have a second card to share using the Stampin Up Snow Swirled tree.  I've stamped and embossed this one, together with the sentiment from the set, in a copper colour.

It's a fairly simple card, cutting the image out with my unbranded die and using soft sheen copper card and some beautiful paper from First Edition.  The ribbon which, for some reason, looks darker in the photo than it actually is was added and that was it.

The photo doesn't do it justice I'm afraid as the holly on the paper is more of a copper colour than it shows.  I hope you like it.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

Dream Valley - Add a Sentiment
The Ribbon Girl - Any Card
Crafty Friends -  Christmas
Daisy Chain - Christmas/Winter
A Gem of a Challenge - Buttons and/or ribbon
Crafting by Designs - Nov. Anything Goes

Thank you for visiting and I love to read your comments, they are much appreciated.

AYLI DT - CHRISTMAS OR NON-CHRISTMAS

Morning Everyone,

I think this must be a record for me, three posts in four days!

It's time for another challenge at As You Like It and for this fortnight we would like you show us a project using your favourite of either Christmas or non-Christmas (and don't forget to let us know why please).

My favourite is definitely Christmas cards.  I love adding all the glitter etc and I can make them all the year round when I don't have much else on.

For this card I used the cute LOTV image and coloured him/her with copics.  The sentiment is also LOTV and the paper is from a First Edition pad.  I cut the Dee's Distinctively tree from Desert Storm cardstock as white seemed too bright and then I coloured parts of it with green pen and lathered the rest with glitter.  There's also glitter on the hat and pom poms.

The sponsor of this challenge is

with a £10 voucher for the lucky winner

I hope you can join us and if you pop over to the challenge here you'll be able to see the inspiration from the rest of the team.

SPARKLES CHRISTMAS DT - MORE THAN 1 FOLD

Morning Everyone,

My favourite type of cards to make are christmas cards and I am pleased tell you that I have joined Sparkles Christmas Challenge as part of their design team.  The theme for this month is "More than one Fold".  I decided to go with a z-fold as I haven't made many fancy folds so thought I'd better keep it straightforward!

I've been wanting this Stamping Up stamp set for ages and found it fairly recently at a reasonable price. It is retired so seems to go quite high on auction sites.

I embossed the tree stamp in silver and cut it out with an unbranded die set I bought. They do cut very well, but can be a little on the thin side.  The Inkylicious sentiment was also cut with the same die so it matches the top one when closed.  I've used soft sheen silver card and pearlescent white for the flower die, which is from Sue Wilson.

I hope you'll be able to join in with the challenge and if you'd like to pop over here you'll be able to see the lovely inspiration from the rest of the team.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

CHRISTMAS WITH THE CUTIES DT - TAGS

Morning Everyone,

It's time for the start of another challenge at Christmas with the Cuties and the theme is Tags.  It doesn't have to be a tag on it's own, it can also  be featured on a card as long as it's cute and christmassy.

These are the tags I made with images kindly donated by the sponsors, Sasayaki Glitter.  I printed them onto Neenah Desert Storm cardstock and coloured them with copics.  I used a white pencil to colour in the snowman and penguin, a gel pen for the snowflakes and liquid appliqué for the snow. They were finished off with little silver bells, small wooden snowflakes and ribbon from Stampin up.

I hope you will be able to join us in the challenge and if you'd like to pop over here you'll be able to see the lovely inspiration from the rest of the team.

I would like to enter these into the following challenges:

Rudolph Days October Challenge - Anything Goes
Fab n Funky - Christmas

SAIL AWAY

Morning Everyone,

I hope you are all well.  I don't seem to be sharing so many cards lately, but I think it's because I've been trying to get ahead with my DT cards in the run up to Christmas and haven't had time for many other makes.

This is a card I made for my brother's birthday.  He lives in Cornwall and has a sailing boat so I thought it would be very apt for him.

It is an old Stampin Up stamp called Sail Away. I stamped the sails twice so I could fussy cut and add another layer.  I have used navy ink and all the paper edges have been distressed.  I embossed the red paper, but I think it was too thin as the folder took the top off the paper.  When I tried it again on thicker card it looked too neat so I ended up using my first attempt as it seemed to go better with the distressed look.  I made 2 dots with the same red paper and used glossy accents on them and then tied a reef knot with the string.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

Crafty Creations - Anything Goes
Creatalicious - Anything Goes
Dream Valley - Birthdays
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday - Anything Goes
Cute Card Thursday - Vintage/Distressing

Thank you for visiting and I appreciate any comments that you leave.  Have a good weekend,

AYLI DT - PEOPLE OR ANIMALS

Morning Everyone,

It's time for another challenge at As You Like It and this fortnight the theme is to showcase a project using your favourite of either people or animals (and don't forget to tell us why they are your favourite please).

I have chosen animals as I think they are much more versatile on cards than people and easier to colour.  I always struggle if an image has a lot of hair and I find fur easier.

My image is a Penny Black stamp bought on Ebay recently.  It's bigger than I thought so I've cut the flower outside of the oval Sizzix die.  It's not the first time I've bought a stamp and didn't realise how big it was!  I've coloured the image with copics and used some lovely Maja design paper, distressed the edges and used my sewing machine too. Gorgeous lace, flowers, pearls and a kaisercraft sentiment finish it off.

The sponsor for the challenge is

with a prize of 3 digi images for the winner

If you'd like to pop over to the challenge here you'll be able to see the lovely inspiration from the rest of the DT.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

I hope you have a good weekend with lots of happy crafting. Thank you for visiting, I really appreciate and love to read any comments you leave.

AYLI DT - FLOWERS OR RIBBON

Morning Everyone,

I hope you are well.  I can't believe how quickly the time goes and now it's getting cooler and the daylight hours shorter we're getting to my least favourite time of year.

It's time for another challenge over at As You Like It and the theme for this fortnight is to showcase a project using your favourite of either Flowers or Ribbon (and don't forget to tell us why it's your fave please).

I do have lots of ribbon and flowers, but I've chosen flowers as my favourite between the two.  If you add flowers to a card I think it makes them a little bit more special for the recipient and you can make shabby chic style cards with mainly flowers too, which I love to do now and then.

The papers for this card are from Dovecraft and I've used a chipboard sentiment which I've only partially glittered to try and make it look a bit more shabby.  Dies used are Go Kreate for the cream card, Ivy from Joy Crafts and the little tassels (which I love) are Marianne Design.

The sponsor for the challenge is

with a £10 voucher for the lucky winner

I hope you can join us for the challenge and if you'd like to pop over here you'll be able to see the lovely inspiration from the rest of the DT.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

CHRISTMAS WITH THE CUTIES - CHRISTMAS ANIMALS

Morning Everyone

It's time for the start of another challenge at Christmas with the Cuties and the theme for you to play with is "Christmas Animals".

The sponsor for the challenge is Pink Gem Designs who kindly provided us with images and this is the card I've made with "Hedgy in Hat".

I've used the pre-coloured image for quickness and layered him up on a mixture of green and blue papers to match his hat.  Crispy ribbon, a few pearls and a sentiment stamped in metallic silver finish it off.

If you'd like to visit the challenge here you'll be able to see the lovely projects from the rest of the design team.  I hope you can join us this time as it's getting closer!

AS YOU LIKE IT DT - FAVE PAPER PAD

Morning Everyone

I hope you are having a good week.  I am back today with a totally different card from my last post.  It is time for another challenge at As You Like It and the theme this fortnight is to showcase a project using your favourite paper pad.

All my favourite pads seem to be Christmas ones! I love this Silent Night paper from First Edition as they look very wintery and cold with quite a lot of glitter on them.  In fact, it's a shame to cover some of them up.  The sheet on my second layer is a very pale blue with glittery patterns so I haven't used much in the way of embellishments.  I heat embossed the sentiment, which is from a new A5 set from LOTV, in silver and distressed the edges of the papers.  A small frosty looking flower has been added to both corners with a few silver and white stamens.

The sponsor for the challenge is

with a stamp set and a 6 x 6 paper pad for the lucky winner!

If you'd like to pop over to the challenge here you'll be able to see the lovely inspiration from the rest of the team.  Hope you can play along!

Fab n Funky - Floral embellishments

SANTA'S ELF

Morning Everyone

I have a fun card to share today.  I bought Santa's Elves by My Favourite Things recently and have been having a play with them.  I didn't treat myself to the matching dies and wish I had now, perhaps I'll put them on my wish list :).

This is the first one I coloured up and wanted to try something different to the normal christmas combinations.

I coloured him with copics before I looked for any paper, but luckily found one sheet that matched perfectly.  The card is only small, A6 I think.  I cut him out on a stitched circle and then decided to use the presents too so instead of stamping them on the circle I stamped them on a scrap and fussy cut them out.  I didn't want to mess it up at the last minute!

I know they're not traditional colours for a christmas card, but I'm pleased with how it's turned out.  The next one is already inked up in red and green.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Ribbon Girl - Any Image
Dragonfly Dreams - Patterned Paper
Creative Inspirations - Seasonal
Cute Card Thursday - Add a Banner/flags
Creative Knockouts - Anything Goes
Creatalicious - Anything Goes

I'll be back on Thursday and, in the meantime, I hope you are keeping well and thank you for visiting.
I love to read any comments you may wish to leave.

PRETTY POINSETTIA

Morning Everyone

I've made this card for the LOTV Facebook challenge, which is a colour challenge including red and green so I thought a christmas card would be ideal.

I've coloured her up with copics almost the same as on a previous card, except for her scarf, and added a snowflake border die, glitter and stickles.   The papers are First Edition.  The stamp is discontinued now, but you can still buy it from the LOTV outlet shop on Ebay.

My daughter came out of hospital last Thursday.  She'd torn some tissue in her neck and cracked a couple of ribs so thankfully it wasn't too bad in the end.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

The Crafty Addicts - Anything Goes
Allsorts - Use at least 2 DPs
Dragonfly Dreams - Patterned paper
Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge - Anything Goes
Ribbon Girl - Any Card
Polkadoodles - Anything Goes

AYLI DT - FLORA OR FAUNA

Morning Everyone,

I hope you are all having a good week.  Mine's not been so good.  My daughter fainted whilst coming down the stairs on Monday night and banged her head at the bottom.  We spent over 10 hours in A&E   before being transferred to a ward. I arrived back home at 8 a.m. in the morning, had an hour or so sleep, then went back for another 2 hours and she's still waiting for an MRI scan whilst I am typing.  It was horrendous in A&E with ambulance crews having to queue in corridors with their patients until a bed became free.  No wonder they take a long time to arrive sometimes, they're all queuing in the hospital! This isn't a rant about the crews, they do a great job, it's the system and how they're so short staffed etc etc.

Anyway moaning bit over, it's time for another challenge over at As You Like It and this fortnight's theme is to showcase a project using your favourite Flora or Fauna (and don't forget to tell us why it is your favourite please).

I do love both, but nearly always tend to colour Fauna rather than flowers as they are cuter and I do like cute.  My little cuties do often tend to be holding flowers though as in the card I made for this challenge.  Generally, I use flowers more as an embellishment.

I used a fairly old LOTV Posy Trio stamp, but only 2 of them, coloured with copics and a LOTV sentiment.  I cut part of the front of the card off and shaped both edges with the Die-namics stitched scallop basic edges 2 set.  The paper is from the Works and little sequins were added to match.

The sponsor for the challenge is

CHRISTMAS WITH THE CUTIES - CUTE COUPLES

Morning Everyone,

I hope you're having a good Bank Holiday weekend.  The weather has been lovely here so I hope it has for you.

It's time for another challenge at Christmas with the Cuties and the theme this time is "Cute Couples".
This is the card I've made.

This is a LOTV image coloured with copics.  I've added glitter and stickles to the snow and fur on the little girl's coat.  The papers are First Edition and a LOTV sentiment, ribbon, snowflake die cuts and mini pom pom trim finish it off.  I really like the colour way and am pleased with how it's turned out.  I think my daughter and her partner may be getting it for Christmas :) .

The sponsor for the challenge is

AYLI DT - FUR OR FEATHERS

Morning Everyone,

It's time for another challenge over at As You Like It and this fortnight's theme is to showcase a project using your favourite, Fur or Feathers ( and don't forget to explain why please).

It's definitely fur for me.  I like cuddly and cute and I don't really see birds in that way.  It's lovely to have a warm cuddly dog on your knee (which is where ours always seem to want to be!) and they always give you so much love too.

For my card I've used a Wild Rose Studio stamp, Bunny and Butterfly.

I used a sketch from a recent Come and Get It challenge.  My mojo seems to have disappeared somewhere so I found it easier to follow that.  The papers are Nitwit collections and I've used the large Spellbinders floral oval.  The stamp is coloured with copics and I've layered the butterfly.

The sponsor for this challenge is

with a $10 voucher for the lucky winner

If you'd like to pop over to the challenge here you'll be able to see the inspiration from the rest of the team.

I would also like to welcome and thank Marilyn for becoming my latest follower.
